Class 2 Digital Signature is the second class of digital signature. This DSC is valid for general signing activity. Both Individuals and organisations can apply for this DSC. The Indian Government discontinued issue of this certificate in 2021. Now we use Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate in place of this certificate. Henceforth for all orders of Class 2 DSC, we will issue Class 3 DSC only.

Validity of Class 2 DSC

Class 2 DSC is available in 1-year, 2-year and 3-year validity options. Please select the appropriate validity option during placing an order. After approval of DSC, no one can change DSC validity. However, you can renew the certificate after the expiry of the validity period.

Types of Class 2 DSC

Class 2 Digital Signature is available in three types. They are given below.

1-Sign only. 2-Encryption Only. 3-Sign with Encryption.

The former is useful for all general-purpose signing activities. The latter is useful for encryption activity along with signing requirements like tender and similar activities.

Renewal of Class 2 Digital Signature Certificate

A user can renew his Class 2 DSC after expiry. Renewal is optional after the expiry of the validity period. The renewal extends the validity of the certificate. You have to complete the verification process at the time of renewal. We issue Class 3 DSC for all orders of Class 2 DSC since the latter is not in use.

How to get a Class 2 Digital Signature Certificate

To start with, you have to place the order for the certificate and make the necessary fee. After successful payment, you will receive an order number in your email ID. One of our executives will contact you to complete the verification. We will approve the DSC after video verification. We will dispatch your brand new Proxkey Digital Signature and token to the shipping address. Approval of DSC is very fast because of the paperless process.

DSC verification process

The CCA department of the Government of India prescribes the standard procedure for DSC verification. However, it changes frequently. But for Individuals, generally, we do mobile verification, email verification & video verification. A soft copy of documents like PAN and Aadhaar is sufficient to complete the verification process.

The verification process of DSC is completely paperless. Therefore we don’t ask for any physical document.

Note: DGFT Certificate has a completely different use. It’s helpful for the renewal of the IEC code in the DGFT portal. Therefore, don’t use Class 2 DSC for IEC renewal.
