Guidelines for Application Filing on NSWS Portal in India

The National Single Window System (NSWS) helps businesses apply for approvals online. The Government of India created this portal to save time and reduce paperwork. The portal connects businesses with central and state departments in one place.

To get approvals faster, you must file your application correctly. This article gives you clear and simple guidelines for filing an application on the NSWS portal.

Create an Account on the NSWS Portal

Before filing an application, you must create an account. Follow the below steps to create an account on the NSWS Portal.

Visit the NSWS Portal
Click on the โ€œRegisterโ€ button on the top right.
Enter your name, mobile number, and email ID.
Create a strong password and click โ€œSubmit.โ€
Check your email and mobile for the OTP.
Enter the OTP to verify your account.
Now your account is active.

Complete Your Profile

After registration, log in to your account. Go to the โ€œMy Profileโ€ section in your dashboard. Enter your personal and business details. Upload required documents like PAN, Aadhaar, or GST certificate. Save the profile before moving forward. Correct profile information helps departments process your request quickly.

Use the โ€˜Know Your Approvalsโ€™ (KYA) Tool

The portal offers a smart tool called KYA. You can find it on the home page or dashboard. Click โ€œKnow Your Approvalsโ€ to start. Answer simple questions about your business type, location, and sector. The system will show you a list of required approvals. This step helps you avoid missing any important approvals.

Select the Right Approvals

From the KYA list, choose the approvals you need. Click โ€œApplyโ€ next to each approval. Some approvals may come from central departments. Others may come from state departments. The portal allows you to apply for both in one place. Choose carefully based on your business needs.

Fill the Application Form Carefully

Each approval form asks for specific details. Read each field clearly before entering data. Provide full and correct information in every section. Avoid typing errors or incomplete answers. Wrong details may delay or cancel your approval. Always double-check the form before submitting it.

Upload the Right Documents

Each approval form asks for supporting documents. These may include:

Identity proof (PAN, Aadhaar)
Business proof (GST, Udyam, CIN)
Address proof
Technical or project reports

Upload scanned copies in PDF, JPG, or PNG formats. Make sure each file is under 5 MB. Label files clearly for easy review. For example, name a file โ€œPAN_Card.pdfโ€ instead of โ€œscandoc23.โ€

Use Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) If Required

Some approvals need a Class 3 Digital Signature. Plug your DSC token into your computer. Click โ€œSign using DSCโ€ at the end of the form. Select the correct certificate and enter the proxkey token password. If your approval does not need a DSC, skip this step.

Pay the Application Fee

Many approvals need a government fee. The portal shows the fee before you submit the form. Choose a payment method:

Credit or debit card
Net banking
UPI or wallet

Complete the payment online in one step. After payment, the system sends a receipt. Save or print the receipt for future use.

Submit the Application

After filling the form and uploading documents, click โ€œSubmit.โ€ You will see a message that confirms submission. The dashboard will now show the status as โ€œSubmitted.โ€ You can track the status anytime from the dashboard.

Track Application Status

Visit the โ€œMy Applicationsโ€ tab in your dashboard. Check the status regularly to stay updated. If the department needs more information, it will send a message. Reply quickly if they ask for clarification. Delay in response may stop or slow down the process.

Respond to Queries Quickly

Sometimes, the department may ask for extra documents. The portal marks the status as โ€œClarification Required.โ€ Click on the notification and upload the needed files. Add a note to explain your response if required. Click โ€œSubmitโ€ again after uploading everything.

Download the Approval Letter

If the department approves your application, the status will change to โ€œApproved.โ€ Click on the approved application from your dashboard. Find and click โ€œDownload Certificateโ€ or โ€œApproval Letter.โ€ Save the letter for your records or future use.

The NSWS portal makes business approvals easy and fast. You must follow each step carefully to avoid mistakes. Fill forms with correct details and upload the right documents. Pay the fee and sign with DSC if needed. Track your application and respond to queries on time. Visit here to know more about digital signature certificate.
